JEFFERSON MEMORIAL

5x8 oil on canvas board
My contribution to Karin Jurick's Different Strokes for Different Folks blog. I've decided architecture is not my thing. To enjoy more beautiful interpretations of the Jefferson Memorial, please visit the DSDF blog.

Hi Angela, I think you did a very beautiful interpretation of the photo. I love that you changed the color scheme to a very warm palette and gave it a wonderful glow. I also really like the way you cropped the image - very nice, and the reflection in front of it is a very nice touch too. Well done!

Beth,
Thank you so much; I enjoy painting animals so much more than buildings! However, I do enjoy these challenges because we are pushed where we do not necessarily want to be -- at least that's what I experience. When I take a break this afternoon, I will take a look at your blog; I'm looking forward to seeing your work.

Edward,
Thank you so much; I would have liked to have tried this again, but time was an issue. I wanted to paint all day yesterday and then one errand became another errand, so, today is my painting day.

Thank you for your comment about Indy; that was one of those paintings that painted itself--I like those. I'm hoping for something of the "furry kind" from Karin this week!

Shelia,
It is nice to meet you; thanks for checking my stuff out. I'm really new at this blogging and internet stuff, Edward was kind enough to give me some needed and friendly advice about blogs and websites. I'm not wild about overly cool palettes, that is why I warmed it up. I had not thought of my color palette as vintage, but I think you are exactly right.

I really like this, Angela, and echo the previous comments. I have the same problem with architecture. Columns, pillars, windows - it just makes me dizzy trying to get them right. But you handled yours very well.

I'm sorry but you can't say your not good at doing architecture because this piece is so rich with Heritage.

I like this one Angela. The colours are so moody, you really capture the evening. Your visible brush strokes are great too! Thanks for visiting my blog.
