I CAN TIE MY SHOES

10x10 oil on canvas

This is one of the paintings I worked on during my Spring Break vacation a couple of weeks ago. I am, happily,  very busy with pet portrait commissions, but thought I would, selfishly, fit in a little painting for myself. I try to have my camera with me at school so I can capture little moments such as Aaliyah learning how to tie her shoes. I have so much to learn, ugh those hands. So many of you paint such beautiful figures, please keep in mind I am learning, but aren't we all?

You're so right--the learning never stops! This is charming, and near and dear to your heart. It shows. I love her concentration on the laces--that focus kids get when everything else but the task at hand slips away. Kind of like learning, and relearning the lessons of painting! This is lovely, Angela! You've really captured the jut of her head over the knee superbly. Liz

Well done Angela, I think you've really captured the scene. I remember those days I used to leave the laces in a knot so I could just slip them on! (actually I still do that...)

This is great Angela, I know you think you cannot paint flowers but my friend, I cannot paint people! And you do such a beautiful job of it. I can't wait to hear about all the new cows you will be meeting soon. ; )
big ole hugs....

Hurray for spring breaks! (I taught for 31 years, so I know) I love this little painting, hands and all. This is a tough pose, and you've done a great job! How many weeks till school is out?

Hi
This is a beautiful oil painting. You captured a good pose. It reminded me to my son's journey to learn how to tie his shoes. Great work.
