MOCHA

12x24 oil on canvas
This is the portrait I've decided to submit in a pet portrait exhibition. Mocha's portrait came about from another client who makes the most amazing jewelry for pets, so beautiful and "un-pet-like"that I want to wear the jewelry myself! Stacy was kind enough to loan me a variety of pieces and when I saw the turquoise, I knew it was meant for Mocha. Mocha, a Great Dane, was lovingly rescued by the Bissell family and has the sweetest disposition...she's just a great big lap dog! Elise Bissell is an incredible photographer and a full-time rescue/foster parent. Note to Sheila:  I will be working on a portrait donation for Elise's Take Me Home Pet Rescue and will be submitting it to you for your new website, look for it later this summer. Thank you all for looking and visiting my blog; I appreciate it very much.

What a beautiful portrait. That sweet glance is so touching and the cross of the paws so elegant. Love the turquoise necklace and that popping red-hot sofa!

Beautiful job on Mocha, Angela. Best on your birthday. Can I join you with that pathetic blogger award? I haven't been able to do much lately myself.

Angella, this one is captivating! The look in her eyes, the way her legs cross (my Cavalier does that)...it all draws you in. Love it--and you don't deserve a Pathetic Blogger award, either, sounds to me like you deserve a Handling It All award!

Thank you all for your comments and birthday wishes; I appreciate it very much! This painting was a composite of 2 photos, crossed legs in 1 picture and her face from another photo. Because she was so photogenic, Mocha will be the subject of more paintings to come.

Angela, first time I have visited your blog (followed the link from DSFDF)and was enthralled for quite a long while visiting all your portraits. This pose in particular appealed to me. Just the fact that Mocha is totally settled in her crossed paws position, but still looking alert ready to go happily at any sign of an invitation. Great emotion in this as well as beautifully painted. One quick question, does your client sell the dog jewelry? I'd love to know where I could get some. This one on Mocha is perfect for the coloring of her/his coat. My email: bdycttdncr@yahoo.com. Loved traveling thru your blog & websites. Ruth Bodycott
