MY WEEKEND WITH HENRY FINKELSTEIN

6x12 oil on canvas
16x20 oil on panel
8X16 oil on panel

Another great weekend to talk about, but I will keep this short because I have so many photos to post...I spent a long weekend studying with Henry Finkelstein, an abstract expressionist from New York (3rd from left on back row in group shot). Our plein air painting days consisted of 30-35 mph winds, very gray days, rainstorms, and the occasional burst of sunshine. Our days began painting in the morning, breaking for lunch with a critique, and then back to painting into early evening. Before we sent Henry back to New York, we celebrated with a wonderful party last night. Artists are just the best people, I have made so many new friends, here in blogworld, and through workshops. We had so much fun painting together and plan on painting again very soon. I love seeing photos of artists at work and hope you enjoy seeing these amazing artists and their incredible paintings. Please keep in mind these landscapes were pretty quick, but hopefully I have some good studies that I might develop into larger works soon.

Sounds like so much fun! And from the great paintings I'd've had no idea the weather was so tempermental.

Looks like a good group, the paintings are really good! How did you hear about this workshop? I don't hear much in Keller! hehe
Hey Angela your shirt really looks nice with the paintings, kind of an abstract look to it.

Really nice paintings, Angela. The middle one is my personal favorite. And you asked about my cityscape size -- it's 20 x 16 oil on canvas paper.

Looks like a fun class; I look forward to seeing your ongoing work!

There's nothing better--or harder--than plein air painting! I think all three of your paintings have great possibilities. Sounds like you have another wonderful weekend.

Sheila - lots of wine and premature grey hair always make for a glowing picture :-) Thanks, we had a blast!

aRt - Thank you, the first day I lost my hat twice and the 2nd day I had my tripod tethered to 2 weights tied down with the only thing I could find...yarn. Now, I carry rope in my bag.

Nancy - Thank you Nancy ;-) I took a class last Spring at SMU and still paint with some of these artists...you know our Saturday thing...anyway, they asked me to do the workshop with them. He is coming back in October for another workshop with us...if you are interested, let me know because it will fill up fast.

Camille - That's the one I was about to wipe away when he walked by me and critiqued it...after that I decided to keep it, thanks for visiting!

Cheryl - You said it; plein air painting is so very hard, but so much fun...thanks so much!

Nancy - We might try and get together this weekend or next weekend; I hope you (and Nancy) can paint with us!!

great paintings Angela. Love what you are doing with children. I think you are really getting that child feeling to them.
