For some reason I have become a painter of dogs and not a painter of cats, when I saw Persia posted on my friend's Facebook page a couple of months ago, I knew I just had to see if I could paint a cat. According to Jacque, Persia's favorite napping spot is on this embroidered pillow, with one little eye slightly open.
Several months ago, Jacque (an artist friend) gave me permission to use her photo, but I had to wait to paint Persia when I had time. On Wednesday I decided I could not paint another commission until I did something for me, or in this case for Jacque. I am so sad to say, Persia died just yesterday from kidney renal failure. I hate to end this blog post so abruptly and sadly, if you would like to see Jacque's beautiful graphic art, you can check out her website here.
Thank you so much for looking, reading, and listening; I appreciate the time you take to visit my blog.

That makes me so sad to read about your friend's loss of Persia. She looks so healthy and happy too...I know this gift came just at the right time.
Oh so sad Angela! Persia is beautiful - I felt the same about painting cats as you did, and you have done an incredible portrait.
Angela...great capture on this painting. Very soft and yet just enough definition with your brush work. It's nice to know Persia "lives on" through your work.
Great job on this Angela. Your friend will be very happy with this finished painting...too bad about Persia.
This is a wonderful painting, Angela. The fur is so soft and I love the little peek of an eye that was so much a part of Persia's pattern. I know this beautiful animal will be missed. How timely that you were moved to paint her just as she was leaving!
Beautiful painting of Persia, her coat looks so soft and her eye open enough to keep tabs on the world around her. Sorry to hear she passed away, always devastating when a beloved pet dies.
A wonderful painting. you have really captured personality of this cat and it will be treasured for years to come.
Good job.
Persia is beautifully painted but especially so when enlarged. Your brush work is evident and engaging...well done!
I just stopped in my tracks when I saw this lovely painting of Persia and I felt so sad when I learnt she had died. I really like the soft quality of the fur and colours used.
Looks like she was a very sweet kitty -- beautiful portrait of her, Angela.
So soft and beautiful. I am terribly sadded for Persia's passing. You did wonderful work, and what a treasure for Persia's family to have to remember her by. It was providence you did it, and I am so happy you did.
Persia is lovely, she looks like a very friendly cat:o)
